Creating And Asking Questions

What Do I Own?
Maestro Manager is adept at answering questions about the albums in your collection. The questions can range from a simple, "Which albums in my collection contain performances by Milstein?", to questions with significant complexity. To create questions, typing is eliminated—simply select the content of your question from pre-programmed scrollable lists and check boxes. Taken collectively, the items selected become your question's criteria. With the question using the following format, "Which albums in my collection fulfill my question's criteria?"

An Example
A Maestro user seeks a response to an in-depth question: "Which LPs in my collection are on the ASD label, contain at least one violin concerto, are filed in a storage location designated as "Duplicates", and that I recommend as outstanding?"

Form used to create and ask questions

What To Select To Ask This Question
Label = ASD
ASD is one of EMI's labels
Musical Category = Violin Concerto
Storage Location = Duplicates
Ability to define storage locations and search for albums in specific locations is enormously helpful
Media Format = LP
Critics = ME!
Initials "ME!" refer to the owner of Maestro Manager and can be changed to the owner's actual initials

What Should I Play? — Integrate Your Collecting Style
At times, especially with large collections, it would be beneficial to a have a librarian-like knowledge of your collection in order to select the best album to play at a particular time. To that end, Maestro adapts to characteristics that are important to each user by tracking and prompting the selection of albums based on user-defined criteria.

Notice the Musical Category, Play Prompt, and Storage Location drop-down lists in the form above. You can integrate your collecting style by adding to the names already in those lists which enables the use of those characteristics when creating questions. These can be a friend's name, a sonic characteristic, a musical category, something pertinent to a limited group of CDs or LPs, or any other classical, collecting, or audiophile-related items. Selecting appropriate recordings when a music-loving friend visits is a breeze, as would be finding albums that have a luscious violin tone, that are appropriate for a late-night listen, that relate to a type or category of music, or simply to determine which albums you wish to sell.
