What Are Physical Attributes?
EACH COPY of an album that YOU OWN has physical attributes that uniquely identify that copy. Should you own duplicates, these physical attributes differentiate one copy of a specific album from another. Maestro Managers Physical Attributes window describes these copy-specific details. Examples of physical attributes include purchase cost, appraised value, condition, label/pressing variations, notes applicable to a specific copy, and filing location. A detailed description of the fields and buttons on the Physical Attributes window follows.
NOTE: There are two versions of the Physical Attributes window. The enter/edit mode version window has scroll lists which enable entering and editing copy-specific details. The display mode version lacks scroll lists and displays when Maestro is responding to questions. Lacking the scroll lists enables displaying longer names within each field. The photos below show the Physical Attributes window used to enter and edit information. NOTE 2: The Physical Attributes window is always in the same mode as the Album Cover View window. When the Album Cover View window is in its enter/edit mode so is the Physical Attributes window. Whereas when the Album Cover View window is in its display mode the Physical Attributes window also is in the display mode.
How To Display Physical Attributes For RCA LSC 2225
Displaying copy-specific details is very simple. The Physical Attributes window opens in response to clicking the $$ button located at the top of the Album Cover View window. Display RCA LSC 2225 on the Album Cover View window and the Physical Attributes window displays copy-specific details for that album as shown in the photo on the left.
In Sync
Once the Physical Attributes window is open, it remains in sync with the album displayed in the Album Cover View window. Change the Album Cover View to describe EMI ASD 488 and the Physical Attributes window automatically displays copy-specific details that describe any copies of that album that you own.
Displays One Copy At A Time
The Physical Attributes window displays the physical attributes of all copies of a specific album that you own, one copy at a time. If you own more than one copy, use the ARROW buttons at the top of the Physical Attributes window to move to and display the attributes associated with any other copy.
The Record # Indicator
The "Record 1 of 1" at the bottom of the window indicates that this Maestro user owns 1 copy of RCA LSC 2225. A display of "Record 1 of 3" would indicate three owned copies. In that event, clicking the Right ARROW button enables perusing or editing the physical attributes that describe the 2nd copy. After clicking that arrow, the Record indicator would read "Record 2 of 3".Physical Attributes window used to enter & edit copy-specific details related to RCA LSC 2225.
The Physical Attributes Window - Fields & Buttons Described
Most of the information displayed in the Physical Attributes window, shown above, is self-explanatory though several items benefit from a detailed overview. A brief summary follows:
Album Header: The Album Header "RCA LSC 2225" displayed near the top of the window indicates that the copy-specific details in this window describe a copy of RCA LSC 2225. This Album Header inserted automatically in response to the Album Cover View window displaying an album description of RCA LSC 2225.
Media Formats: Four media formats are available for selection. NOTE: Users can customize Maestro to insert a preferred Media Format automatically. Although you can override this selection, automatic insertion expedites entry of a physical attributes description should you use one Media Format more than others.
ID#: Each copy of an album owned automatically receives a unique ID#. Number "72" identifies this album. If the user owned multiple copies, he could affix a small note with its respective ID# onto each album copy. In this way, the user associates each copy with its computerized description without the need to examine each copy in-depth.
This LP is filed in the "A" section (abbreviation for Arnold) of the "Main Cabinet"Storage Details:
KEY FEATURE: Arguably the most beneficial feature of Maestro Manager is the ability to pinpoint the filing location of every copy of every album in a collection. To ensure users can locate any album quickly, Maestro pinpoints the filing location to a SPECIFIC PLACE within a SPECIFIC CABINET, shelf, room, or storage area. To enable this ability, Maestro dedicates 2 fields. One field tracks the storage cabinet, shelf, room, or storage area (labeled "Where Stored") and the second field tracks the section or an area within the Where Stored location where you filed the album (labeled "Where Stored1"). Where Did I File It? describes how users can benefit from this powerful feature. NOTE: Users can customize Maestro to insert a preferred "Where Stored" filing location automatically. Although you can override this selection, automatic insertion expedites entry of a physical attributes description should you use one Where Stored filing location more than others. Purchase Date: A date enters into the Purchase Date field automatically. The date that inserts is the date when the user created a physical attributes description for a particular copy of an album he owns. If desired, the user can change the automatically inserted date.
Either the Notes or the Label/Pressing Details section can display at a click of a buttonLabel/Pressing Details: Three fields are available to track label and pressing details. These fields are hidden behind the Notes section. Click on the To Label/Pressing Details button shown above and the label and pressing fields become visible and useable. Click that button again and the Notes section becomes visible and useable. For LP users, enter whether that Living Stereo issue is a shaded dog or a white dog, whether the Decca issue is wide or narrow band, whether your Mercury is an FR1/2 or a RFR5/M pressing, etc. CD users can track promo releases, whether a copy is a 1st or a 2nd edition, etc. Most of the details entered into these fields can be included in reports that users generate. Buttons: The buttons selectable at any one time (not grayed out) depends on what's displayed in the Physical Attributes window. In the 1st photo on this page, clicking EDIT enables making changes to the copy-specific details currently displayed. Clicking ADD clears the window and enables entering copy-specific details that describe another copy of RCA LSC 2225 owned by this user. Clicking the GARBAGE CAN enables deleting the copy-specific details currently displayed from your database. This would be done, for example, if you gave that copy to a friend or sold it.
