Expediting Entry Of Copy-Specific Physical Attributes

Using The Physical Attributes Window To Enter Copy-Specific Details
Use the enter/edit mode of the Physical Attributes window, pictured below, to enter COPY-SPECIFIC details that describe a copy of an album that you own into Maestro Manager. These copy-specific details may include purchase cost, appraised value, condition, purchase date, label/pressing variations, notes applicable to a specific copy, and filing location. Detailed below is a summary of how to enter these copy-specific details. Alternatively, to enter album descriptions use the Album Cover View window.

The Album Header
The Album Header "RCA LSC 2225" displayed near the top of the Physical Attributes window indicates the displayed copy-specific details pertain to RCA LSC 2225. This Album Header inserted automatically in response to the Album Cover View window displaying an album description for RCA LSC 2225.

Physical Attributes Are In Sync
The Physical Attributes window is synchronized with the Album Cover View window. As a result, all of the content within the Physical Attributes window changes whenever a different album displays in the Album Cover View window. Change the Album Cover View to describe EMI ASD 488 and the Physical Attributes window automatically displays copy-specific details that describe any copies of that album that you own or indicates the album is on your Wish List.

Wish List
The Physical Attributes window in Fig. 1 indicates that RCA LSC 2225 is on this user's Wish List. Maestro created this physical attributes description automatically in response to the user completing an Album Cover View that describes RCA LSC 2225. NOTE: Observe the "Record 0 of 1" in the Record # Indicator at the bottom of the window. The 1st number (0) indicates the number of owned copies. The 2nd number (1) indicates the total number of physical attribute descriptions that pertain to RCA LSC 2225.

Entering Physical Attributes—Powered By Automation
Automated functions built into Maestro reduce the amount of data entry required to enter a physical attribute description. To observe the ease at which this is accomplished, the summary below describes how to create the copy-specific details shown in Fig. 2. Details that fill in automatically are mentioned. For an explanation of the purpose and use of the various Fields & Buttons on the Physical Attributes window please see Physical Attributes Window—Described.

Overview To interact with the Physical Attributes window that pertains to RCA LSC 2225, display the Album Cover View for RCA LSC 2225 in the Album Cover View's enter/edit mode. If the Physical Attributes window is not already open, click on the $$ button located at the top of the Album Cover View window.
Click on EDIT or ADD Button To enter copy-specific details that describe the 1st copy of RCA LSC 2225 owned, which removes the album from your Wish List, click the EDIT button in the Physical Attributes window (see Fig. 1). Or to describe a duplicate copy of this album, click on the window's ADD button (see Fig. 2).
Autofills Information, enter any additional details, & SAVE As described in the remaining sections of this summary, entries in four fields (Media Format, ID#, Where Stored, Purchase Date) insert automatically upon clicking the ADD or EDIT buttons. Your Physical Attributes description could be saved at this time if there are no more copy-specific details to enter, though in duplicating the content shown in Fig. 2 there are 4 remaining details. To complete the 4 remaining details, enter “A” (abbreviation for Malcolm Arnold) in the Where Stored 1 field and enter a Purchase Cost, an Appraisal Value, and enter "Maybe a hair shy of NM-" in the Notes field. After completing your entry, click on the SAVE button.
1 button click autofills 4 fields All of information mentioned in the next 4 sections inserts automatically after clicking the window's ADD button, or if you clicked EDIT, inserts when you move the cursor's focus to any field in the window (except ID#, Media Format, Purchase Date).
Autofills Media Format In Fig. 2, Maestro automatically inserted "LP" as the Media Format. "LP" is this user's preferred Media Format. *
Autofills ID# In Fig. 2, Maestro automatically inserted the ID# "72".
Autofills Where Stored filing location In Fig. 2, Maestro automatically inserted "Main Cabinet" as the Where Stored filing location. "Main Cabinet" is this user's preferred Where Stored filing location. *
Autofills Purchase Date In Fig. 2, Maestro automatically inserted the Purchase Date of "4/11/1998" which is the date the user initially entered the physical attributes that describe this particular album copy. If desired, the user can change the automatically inserted date.
  * NOTE: Users can customize Maestro to automatically insert a preferred Media Format and a preferred Where Stored filing location. Whenever there is an option to select a Media Format and a Where Stored filing location, such as when creating a Physical Attributes description, these details insert automatically. Although you can override these selections, automatic insertion saves keystrokes should you use one media format and storage location more than others.
